Stonewall 50 WorldPride World Mural Project
50 Murals by 50 artists; both members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. The first initiative of its kind. NYC Pride partnered with Moon Jelly Studios and the art collective LISA Project NYC to use art as activism and emphasize the importance of visibility.
Stonewall 50 | WorldPride 2019 was the largest LGBTQIA+ event in history. Over 5 million attendees descended on New York City to celebrate and honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and also celebrate the first WorldPride in the United States. There were over 25 official events in the last two weeks of June that included the WorldPride Opening Ceremony at the Barclays Center, hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and featuring artists like Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter and Ciara. On June 30th NYC Pride hosted the annual Pride March that included 150K marchers, 160 floats, 750 groups (78% nonprofit), and lasted over 12 1/2 hours AND 1,200 volunteers.
